Since its creation, one of the bets Nova has been the promotion of culture of peace through various initiatives, like meetings and marches to call for the conversion of military spaces to civilian space and peace.

International meetings for the Culture of Peace held in the years 2003, 2004 and 2006 had their origin in the proposed redevelopment of the Castle in Figueres as a Peace castle (http://www.nova.cat/noviolencia/castellspau). The meetings were a form of dialogue and exchange among peace activists, politicians and military and space to bring the discussion on culture of peace, nonviolence, security and protection to citizens. One of the conclusions of the final 2006 meeting was the proposed creation of an Agency for Civil Peace (http://www.nova.cat/nonviolence/institutpau), which led to a proposal in the form of law proposal (http://www.nova.cat/files/ PropuestaCreacionAgenciaCivilesporlaPaz_ 300606.pdf). The group then Izquierda Unida IU-ICV presented to the Spanish Parliament a law and a proposal for the establishment of an Institute for Civil for Peace.

From 2001 until 2006, the new team marches organized by the culture of peace (http://marxapau.pangea.org/) throughout Catalonia to request the conversion of military spaces to civilian areas and peace, encourage administrations and politicians to make public policy to promote peace and encourage the creation of civilian nonviolent peaceforces.

Within the line of promoting a culture of peace have also taken place other initiatives such as the course A force more powerful than violence training documentaries about nonviolent strategies to make possible other worlds, with the collaboration of Fundación Casa del Tibet and the support of Barcelona City Council and the Office for Promotion of Peace and Human Rights. The aim of this course, which took place between October and November 2008, was to study the experiences and struggles of people to update and implement the local and global conflicts today.
